Chapter 6, Part 1

A Bible class on Luke 6 in which Steve Patton picks up a Sabbath discussion begun the previous Wednesday: what the law actually forbade, how rabbinic tradition turned the day into a burden, and what Jesus claims about himself by saying the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath. The healing of the withered right hand follows, then the choosing of twelve mostly unremarkable men, then the crowd assembling on the level place. Patton closes on where discipleship is really practiced: day to day, alone, outside the assembly.
