About this sermon

Before opening Luke 3, Steve Patton turns to Luke 7 for Jesus' own estimate of his cousin: of those born of women, none greater. Most of the class then fills in the world John preached into: Tiberius, Pilate, the sons of Herod, and a high priesthood that ran the temple courts like a franchise and grew rich on the concessions. Against all of that stands a man in the wilderness calling for repentance without apology. The hour ends at the baptism of Jesus.
