Doubt Is Not Disbelief
There is an important difference between doubt and unbelief. Unbelief is a settled rejection of God. Doubt is the honest wrestling of someone who wants to believe but finds the road harder than expected. The Bible has a lot more room for doubt than most churches do.
Jesus himself, quoting Psalm 22 from the cross, asked why God had forsaken him. If the Son of God could ask that question in the darkest moment, you probably can too. The Psalms are full of honest lament directed straight at God.
What to Do When You Are Struggling
Stay in community. Doubt grows in isolation and shrinks in community. Keep showing up even when it is hard. Keep reading even when it feels dry. Tell at least one person what you are going through. The person sitting next to you has almost certainly walked a similar road.
Our ministers and elders are available to talk through questions of any kind. There is no question that is too hard or too embarrassing. We have asked most of them ourselves.
