Baptism: What the Bible Actually Says

A plain reading of the New Testament on immersion, faith, and forgiveness

Why Baptism Matters

Baptism sits at the center of some of the longest-running disagreements in Christianity. What does it do? Who is it for? Does the mode matter? We believe the New Testament answers these questions clearly.

Acts 2:38

On the day of Pentecost, Peter answered directly: repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. The pattern holds throughout Acts - belief is followed by baptism.

What the Text Says

Romans 6 describes baptism as a burial and resurrection - dying with Christ and rising to new life. Galatians 3:27 says those baptized into Christ have clothed themselves with Christ. These passages describe what baptism is, not merely what it symbolizes.

Baptism is not a work we perform to earn salvation. It is the moment we receive what God has already done.

We practice immersion of believers who have come to faith in Christ. If you want to talk through any of this, our elders and ministers are available after any service.
